Rationale told me that on no level could this be any worse (getting in) than an English Lake in the throes of a British winter.
It lied.
i mean, don’t get me wrong…I’m in Spain, I have no complaints. But thinking purely about the process of entering cold water, this was no ‘easier’. Although, I imagine walking into it wearing water shoes and a full on wetsuit would ease the discomfort for sure.
But bikini clad…bloody freezing. And it took me about as long to get shoulder deep today as it would have done shuffling in to Windermere. But once in, we managed a more confident swim. And apart from having to swerve a smattering of children on their holiday floats, there were no obvious nasties in the water.
So, overall, a cold water win.
