If you're scared of heights give it a miss. Steep is an understatement. But they're making the most of the depth with the 'viewing' platform which adds a bit of something extra - we were brave. 

There's something absurdly artificial about Tarn Hows. It's beautiful in so many ways and yet it feels like you're in a snow globe. I know it's man made but you expect it to at least try to pull the wool over your eyes. It was a pleasant means to an end though, as once we'd done a pretty circuit we were free to access the trail to Tom Gill.
