#5 - ‘Timotei at Tom Gill’ @ Tom Gill, Coniston, The Lake District

There's something absurdly artificial about Tarn Hows. It's beautiful in so many ways and yet it feels like you're in a snow globe. I know it's man made but you expect it to at least try to pull the wool over your eyes. It was a pleasant means to an end though, as once we'd done a pretty circuit we were free to access the trail to Tom Gill.

There had been some pretty hefty rain (happy summer) and so the way down along the water run felt a bit slippy in places given the steady often rocky decline.

When we reached Tom Gill there appeared a make shift queuing system. We patiently waited our turn whilst earlier arrivals took selfies. When we got close enough we started to strip off feeling somewhat rushed. An audience assembled at the top but nobody came down to wait for us to get out so we frolicked. The fall was strong, pushy and heavy. Perfect.

After around 10 minutes a large group began to assemble close to the fall so we climbed out and began to dry off. Only one of them was dipping (out of around 7 people) and whilst she prepared herself they stood and waited. One bloke was practically shoulder to shoulder with me. My space felt well and truly invaded so we removed ourselves completely and changed further down. Something bit my ankle.

So to sum up: beautiful but busy.
