#1 - 'Watch Out for the Cox' @ Denny Beck, River Lune, Lancaster

The water appeared pretty calm, but as we made our way in it felt a lot stronger, and being dragged downstream felt like a distinct possibility again.

So instead of searching for hidden depths(!), we 'practiced' swimming against the current - much like dogs in hydrotherapy rehab. It was fun.

Note to self though...always check for students before stripping off.

Although the early rise was a killer...the swim was well worth it. We arrived at Denny Beck around 9am, parked for free, and navigated our way around a small population of Lancaster University students. I don't remember being up before midday as a student, especially on a Sunday, so I was taken by surprise at their energy and devotion to their sport - rowing.

We changed under the Iron Bridge amid a few obvious jokes about the cox.

In comparison to some of our more recent locations, I'd say the view was basic besides the impressive industrial oppression of the Iron Bridge. But the convenience of it all makes it a tempting candidate for a return swim.
